Job Overview

The Validation groups purpose is to develop test setups, equipment, scripts and other resources to test products including Bluetooth, Audio and WiFi. The validation of these products requires detailed knowledge of both hardware and software functionality. Validation areas included are: RF, Power Management Units (PMU), chargers, digital interfaces, oscillators, PLLs, current consumption, regulatory conformance, cohabitation and audio. Validation of these functions include cell level evaluation and system level testing with firmware. The primary role for the Engineer, Validation, is to take the technical lead of a component or components in the design and implement validation test systems to guarantee functionality according to the device specifications and external customer requirements. This role also often requires generating new test hardware, scripts and measurement techniques. The position involves all aspects of cell and system level testing, debugging and fault finding, and the communication of results within Qualcomm. The role includes evaluation and selection of test equipment, development of new tests, scripting to integrate into full automated systems, data processing, database manipulation and collation of material for the various design review gates. An engineer will take ownership of certain aspects of a project and will be responsible for delivering the scripts and hardware. Tasks will be well defined, and the engineer is expected to work with minimum supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering

  • Database manipulation skills and graphing techniques

  • RF measurement techniques, Bluetooth or WiFi

  • PMU testing knowledge

  • Digital interfaces testing skills

  • Audio measurement techniques

  • Script and hardware development associated with automation

  • Python, C#, Matlab, TCL, or similar language suitable for scripting and test control

  • Wireless communication protocols such as Bluetooth or Wi-Fi

  • Regulatory conformance testing, FCC/ETSI - PCB layout techniques

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor's, Electrical Engineering

Preferred: Master's, Electrical Engineering
