Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. (QTI), in continuing our long tradition of technology leadership and innovation, is looking for ambitious, bright, and innovative engineers who are interested in bringing exciting new sensors technology to the mobile device market. This is a challenging position offering the opportunity to work with leading edge sensor technologies embedded in smartphones, tablets, smartwatches and other consumer electronics devices. Job activities span the whole product life cycle from early R&D to commercial deployment. The successful candidate will work with systems, software, and integration/test engineers in the QTI sensors group and in related QTI teams. Job responsibilities include:
Designing & developing sensors algorithms in high level languages (Matlab, Python), including validating the performance of the algorithm.
Making effective engineering tradeoffs among performance, memory, power consumption, and computational complexity.
In conjunction with Sensor Software Engineers, implementing algorithm to run on dedicated Qualcomm DSP hardware, including implementation of algorithms in fixed point.
Demonstrating new technology, interacting with customers and sensor vendors, and partnering with internal and external teams to commercialize algorithms.
Investigating new areas which apply machine learning to sensors in mobile devices.
Writing reports on algorithm evaluation results and delivering complete design and user documentation.
Tracking project schedules and deliverables, and keeping stakeholders informed. The position is technology focused and involves participation in a broad range of sensors systems engineering activities within the Sensors Technologies Group

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
2+ years Systems Engineering or related work experience.
2+ years of experience in algorithm development including experience with algorithms requiring Statistical Signal Processing & Machine Learning expertise
Proficiency in C/C++ and MATLAB or Python, including the ability to implement algorithms in floating point and fixed-point C.
Experience in comparing C/C++ vs. MATLAB or Python results and resolving differences.
Detail oriented and take a thorough and analytical approach, producing complete documentation
An understanding of inertial sensor processing for accelerometers, gyroscopes, magnetometers, biomedical sensors, etc.
Experience with embedded systems such as ARM, DSP controllers and RTOS
Familiarity with ML libraries and packages
Required: Master's, Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering
Preferred: Doctorate, Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering
