General Summary:

The Yield and Diagnostics group is responsible for driving post-silicon debug and yield improvement on leading-edge technologies for Qualcomm 5G products in advanced semiconductor process nodes (FinFET, GAA, etc). In this role, you will be a member of a global technical team working with Design, Process, Product, Test, and Failure Analysis teams, as well as EDA Software vendors. Responsibilities include identifying opportunities and developing innovative memory diagnostics capabilities and debug processes for SRAM, MRAM, and DRAM, in order to maintain competitive advantage in the industry. You will drive projects from conception to conclusion and integrate them into world-class high-volume diagnostics and yield engineering systems. The individual selected for this position must be able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and be passionate about delivering quality work products.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 6+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.

OR

Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 5+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.

OR

PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 4+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Engineering, specializing in semiconductor or memory topics.

  • 12+ years Hardware Engineering experience or related work experience.

  • 3+ years' experience with circuit design or wafer fabrication.

  • Familiarity with device physics, wafer fabrication, and silicon defects.

  • Hands-on experience with commercial MBIST Diagnostics tools including LogicVision, Tessent, or SMS.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Understand industry trends in manufacturing process technologies and drive development of new memory diagnostics capabilities to meet emerging needs.

  • Define clear project plans with scope, schedules, success criteria, and return on investment.

  • Execute projects in a team setting with focus on meeting schedules for business needs.

  • Partner with EDA vendors to develop joint solutions in diagnostics, and compare/contrast commercial tools.

  • Design experiments to evaluate diagnostics techniques in a high-volume setting, ensuring quality of results and system efficiencies.

  • Works independently with minimal supervision.

  • Provides supervision/guidance to other team members.

  • Decision-making is significant in nature and affects work beyond immediate work group.

  • Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey complex information. May require negotiation, influence, tact, etc.

  • Has a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Office location in Sorrento Valley neighborhood in sunny San Diego, CA, minutes away from the Pacific Ocean.

  • Utilize computers and software for more than 6 hours a day.

  • Continuous communication which includes the comprehension of information with colleagues, customers, and vendors both in person and remotely.

IT Core Competencies:

  • Linux fundamentals, creating, managing, and parsing, and editing files and directories.

  • Experience with data extraction, data manipulation, and data storage.

  • Fully proficient with MS Office or equivalent office suite.

Required Competencies:

  • Working knowledge in memory DFT, memory test algorithms, memory bitmap flows and analysis.

  • Working knowledge in SRAM, MRAM, and DRAM layout, fabrication, test, and device analysis.

  • Using clear and concise verbal/written communication to convey complex information to others who may have limited technical knowledge of the subject.

  • High attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects and priorities to meet fast-moving schedules.

  • Able to work cross-functionally with team members locally and globally.

Additional Competencies:

  • Experience in areas of memory diagnostics, design, DFT, or post-silicon debug.

  • Strong data analysis skills in scripting languages like Perl/Python/Tcl.

  • Exposure to Failure Analysis electrical fault isolation techniques is a plus (PEM, LVI, DLS, FIB, TEM, etc.)

Pay range:

$152,000.00 - $228,000.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
