Job Overview

AP technologies software architecture team consist of highly skilled and talented software architects whose focus on continuously improving the Qualcomm SOC for the best scalable software, hardware architecture for functionality, ease of use, power, performance and user experience. The team works closely with hardware, software, systems engineers and product marketing teams to drive the analysis and definition of next-generation architectures for our HW/SW that is spread across CPU, GPU, Camera and other multimedia sub systems for different product categories across Qualcomm roadmap. We have an exciting and challenging technical position available with a focus on improving the software and hardware architecture specification for Qualcomm Camera and Imaging pipeline. The successful candidate will engage collaboratively across the company with core HW, SW, systems, marketing, and product planning teams, to:

  • Architect market-leading mobile camera ISP design with best-in-class software, hardware for performance, power and user experience.

  • Conduct hands-on prototype of concepts either on existing hardware running Android or simulators and emulators ;

  • Collaborate with HW and SW teams to define best-in-class Camera ISP and multimedia system design;

  • Define HW/SW interfaces that would be scalable across multiple chipset tiers;

  • Develop software models, pre-silicon drivers to validate the HW, HW/SW/FW interfaces before HW tape out on simulators and emulators

  • Apply computer architecture knowledge of CPUs, GPUs, Camera, DSPs, cache coherency, memory and bandwidth analysis.

  • Effectively communicate experimental results, review with technical leads and peers, analyze outstanding issues;

  • Creatively overcome obstacles to obtain the answers to architectural questions;

  • Invent and file patents on technical solutions to relevant problems; Position is based in San Diego, CA.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

  • 5+ years Software Engineering or related work experience.

  • 2+ years experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

MS degree preferred with industry experience in one or more of the following areas

  • Experience in system software development for SoC products, preferably in the mobile market

  • Experience in multimedia SW development (Camera ISP, GPU,video, display, audio, etc)

  • Experience with RTOS principles and HW/SW interaction

  • Hands-on experience in software development and validation for simulators, emulators and commercial devices.

  • Experience in SystemC programming

  • Scripting & automation skills

  • Working knowledge of UNIX environment

  • System software architecture and design skills.

  • Experience in Multimedia software design, development and commercialization on Android or Windows or IOS.

  • Understanding of at least one of the Multimedia blocks such as GPU, Camera, Video and Display.

  • Familiarity with Android OS, WM and other mobile HLOS SW development.

  • Communication, documentation and presentation skills.
