Qualcomm Incorporated, an international leader in driving innovation and developing intellectual property, has an opportunity for a qualified IP Operations Manager, Associate to work in one of the world's most sophisticated IP Departments. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role on the Patent Operations team, managing paralegal staff and contributing to the management of Qualcomm’s portfolio and strategic projects. The ideal candidate has strong people management experience and the ability to develop relationships and build confidence of others based on successful interactions and work performance. We are seeking a critical thinker with a strong focus on process design and optimization, with proven experience implementing simplified and automated solutions.

• Paralegal Certificate OR College graduate

• 3 plus years of experience in operational management

• 7 plus years of industry specific patent prosecution experience

Overview

The position is ideally suited for an experienced manager who is detail oriented with experience working in a fast-paced collaborative environment. The position requires a candidate with demonstrated understanding of US and Foreign IP laws and a strong working knowledge of patent prosecution lifecycle activities. We are seeking a manager who can take ownership of their work while coaching others, driving productivity, change, and outcomes. This position requires a candidate with the proven ability to build and leverage cross-functional relationships to bring together ideas, data, and insights which drive continuous improvement. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Assist with strategic management of intellectual property activities, including monitoring the patent portfolio and critical deadlines

  • Strong working knowledge of patent prosecution practices in the US, PCT, EP, and other major jurisdictions worldwide

  • Contribute to the management of department and prosecution activities

  • Assist in implementing legal department systems and processes

  • Successful candidate must make objective and ethical decisions to routine issues that arise while exercising judgment and adhering to defined policies

  • Lead and review complex analysis to identify root cause and make recommendations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in corporate legal operations or operations with large law firm

  • Experience defining and supporting business processes and programs using data and metrics to determine improvements and conduct root cause analysis

  • Ability to analytically process and present data using Excel, Tableau, QlikView or similar data visualization tools

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and Visio required, PowerPoint a plus)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Frequently transports between offices, buildings, and campuses up to ½ mile.

  • Performs required tasks at various heights (e.g., standing or sitting).

  • Monitors and utilizes computers and test equipment for more than 6 hours a day.

  • Continuous communication which includes the comprehension of information with colleagues, customers, and vendors both in person and remotely.
