Job Overview

The primary responsibility of the position is to perform 3D electromagnetic simulations for customer support as well as new technology development, prototype and commercial WWAN devices. The engineer will be responsible for supporting external customers with EMC/regulatory design challenges for products based on Qualcomm chipsets. The engineer must have the ability to resolve complex EM structures into simplified models and to condense complex simulation results into design guidelines. In this regard, the engineer is expected to have a solid theoretical knowledge in electromagnetic theory, transmission lines, computational electromagnetics, antennas and EMC design. The job will largely focus on design input based on EMC/RF exposure theoretical analysis and simulation data.

Responsible for providing electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) design, analysis, measurement and qualification of radio frequency (RF) wireless devices to meet Worldwide Regulatory requirements and specializing in EM simulations, design techniques and measurement. Candidate will be working on a number of projects within QC supporting the regulatory engineering needs from design to final regulatory compliance. Candidate is expected to have strong knowledge in EMI requirements to perform research and provide guidance in achieving regulatory compliance for new products and technologies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

  • 8+ years Hardware Engineering experience or related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Must have prior antenna and EMC design experience with wireless handsets.

Must have solid background in electromagnetic theory, transmission lines, computational electromagnetic, antenna and EMC design

Must have hands-on experience using quasi-static and full wave EM solvers to simulate EMI related parameters (such as SAR, TRP, TIS, etc.).

Ability to condense complex simulation results into concise models and design guidelines

Strong knowledge and experience in demonstrating compliance with various safety standards and regulatory requirement for new products and technologies.

Ability to use measurement equipment such as spectrum analyzer, power meter, network analyzer.

Knowledge of electromagnetic theory and EMC design processes.

Direct wireless industry experience with CDMA, GSM, UMTS/WCDMA handset development.

Understanding of all phases of Hardware and Software product development from conception to production

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
