The team you’ll be on :

Information Security and Risk Management (ISRM) is a troupe of world class cybersecurity professionals responsible for protecting Qualcomm’s intellectual property and confidential information. We drive cybersecurity practices across technology, processes, and governance; and identify, mitigate, monitor, and manage cybersecurity risks that threaten shareholder value.

The role :

Your typical day will be spent working with members of Qualcomm's engineering teams at tactical and strategic levels to secure our intellectual property. You'll assess impacts of cybersecurity policies and tooling on engineering practices and workflows; when appropriate, you'll recommend and champion changes to:

  • cybersecurity policies and standards

  • cybersecurity tooling

  • IT architecture

  • -engineering workflows

We expect you have subject matter expertise in cybersecurity tooling, a proven history of securing CI/CD tooling and pipelines, and a strong familiarity with hardware/software development and design.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 9+ years of cybersecurity-relevant work experience with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

• Familiarity with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.

• 1+ year in a technical leadership role with or without direct reports.

• 1+ year of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Director level and above).

• Cybersecurity-relevant certifications.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Leverages highly advanced knowledge in one or more security-related areas (e.g., cryptography, hacker exploits, reverse engineering, etc.) to act as a technical lead on multiple large projects/systems and assist others within and across teams to develops solutions.

• Identifies issues utilizing a variety of techniques and establishes new standards or processes across multiple product lines; influences other teams to adopt countermeasures to mitigate future issues.

• Stays up-to-date on latest trends to prevent potential attacks and identifies new technologies and methods to adopt.

• Conducts root cause analyses to find the cause of complex issues in products that may involve multiple groups or processes using a variety of tools and techniques. Synthesizes output and presents findings to project stakeholders and proposes necessary action.

• Prioritizes security risks and vulnerabilities for major features and systems; recognizes how features and systems interact with other areas and sets the technical direction for how to resolve issues.

• Oversees the process of writing, reviewing, and editing technical documentation for large projects. Presents complicated technical information to senior leadership (e.g., Director and above).

• Collaborates with other Cyber Security Engineers to review security or security-tool related issues, develop solutions, and make recommendations for addressing issues that impact a large number of customers in order to lead solutions that meet security requirements.

• Meets with high-priority and/or high-profile project teams and business stakeholders to identify security requirements by leveraging expertise, and makes recommendations based on the configurations, systems, and devices impacted by proposed enhancements or upgrades.

• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to set up new or enhance existing Cybersecurity solutions.

• Leads security architecture reviews with cross-functional project members and business stakeholders to discuss security risks and identify additional changes to security architectural diagrams.

Level of Responsibility:

• Working independently with little supervision.

• Taking responsibility for own work and making decisions with more significant impact, influencing overall program or project success, finances, and/or the ability to meet objectives; errors are not readily apparent due to the complexity of work process/product or time between decisions and results; errors typically result in significant expenditure of time, resources, and funds to correct.

• Using verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals/audiences with differing knowledge levels. Role may require strong negotiation and influence, communication to large groups or high-level constituents.

• Having a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is consulted by senior leadership to provide input on key decisions).

• Using deductive and inductive problem solving is required; multiple approaches may be taken/necessary to solve the problem; often information is missing or conflicting; advanced data analysis and interpretation skills are required.

• Exercising exceptional creativity is needed to innovate new ideas and develop innovative products/ processes without established objectives or known parameters.
