About the Team:

Qualcomm’s Global Information Security and Risk Management (ISRM) organization protects and defends the company’s information, systems, and networks against cyber-attack. As a member of this organization, you will work with a highly technical team focused on identifying sources of cyber risk and developing controls to protect, detect and respond to the quickly evolving cyber threat landscape. We partner with teams across the company to help them operate safely in the digital world and continue to build trust with our customers, partners and stakeholders.

About the Role:

We are looking for a talented cloud security engineer to join our team. You will work with peers to design, build and deploy innovative tools and technologies to secure our enterprise cloud workloads across a diverse set of cloud providers. You will have a deep understanding of how to develop and deploy workloads securely into container and cloud environments, and will work to evangelize associated best practices across our internal community of development teams across the Qualcomm.

The ideal candidate will be a forward-thinker who is passionate about cybersecurity and remains abreast of the latest in protection patterns, practices, and technologies. This is a hands-on role and requires a highly resourceful, self-driven individual with the ability to partner, execute, and lead through influence.

We are a collaborative team t hat is always learning, sharing, and researching. You will work with engineers and business stakeholder across the company to secure complex infrastructure and applications. You will need communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to learn and grow in a rapidly evolving environment.

We are looking for motivated people who have both breadth and depth in the areas listed, but we recognize that this is rare. If you are strong in some of the topics, and eager to learn the others, this is the position for you.

Responsibilities include:

  • Partner with the cloud team to securely organize and manage cloud account lifecycle, access, security controls, and policies.

  • Defining and driving security strategy, architecture, processes, and implementation across a large, diverse cloud ecosystem.

  • Interact with cloud user community and related business stakeholders to foster security awareness and a culture of security ownership and accountability.

  • Establish operational and risk metrics, dashboards, and reporting to highlight overall security posture, risks, and opportunities with users, service teams, and leadership.

  • Collaborate with our Architecture Review Board and our Compliance teams to help identify and drive the creation of relevant security patterns and policies.

  • Identify and prioritize security risks and mitigation.

  • Establish security baselines, principles, and strategies.

  • Plan and execute implementation roadmaps.

  • Act as a mentor and provide guidance and technical leadership to other staff members.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related fields and 7+ years of Cybersecurity relevant work experience OR 9+ years Cybersecurity-relevant work experience without a bachelor’s degree.

  • 4+ years of programming work experience.

  • 2+ years working in cloud environments (i.e., AWS, Azure, GCP)

  • 2+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with executive leadership (e.g., Director level and above).

  • A strong understanding of cloud security best practices, threat modeling, and offensive techniques.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or related area.

  • Experience leading Agile/Scrum development

  • Demonstrated “offensive security” skillsets, such as red team, CTF experience, OSCP, etc.

  • Experience with Security Architecture and Threat Modeling as well as system / network hardening practices and controls

  • Working knowledge of the following topics:

  • Cryptography fundamentals

  • IAM Principles (Authentication and Authorization)

  • Vulnerability management

  • Linux containers and Kubernetes

  • Networking and firewalls

  • Web applications and APIs

  • Databases

  • OS System administration and hardening
