General Summary:

Qualcomm's Chipset Systems team drives definition of industry-leading chipsets through analysis of chipset partitions, PMIC and power grid, and power distribution network (PDN), clock distribution network and chipset interfaces. The team has an opening for a Chipset Systems Lead in the Mobile segment. This is a leadership position with responsibility to define next generation premium tier mobile chipset.

Responsibilities

  • Analysis of product requirements & mapping of requirements to chipset and external component definition, with an emphasis on power, performance, area, cost, flexibility, reusability and ease of implementation

  • Analysis of Chipset partitions and definition of a specific partition as a plan of record for the project

  • Definition of PMIC features, development and ownership of system power grid and clock grid

  • Definition of interfaces used in a chipset with consideration for power, data rates, pin count and implementation complexity

  • Setting targets for and driving bill of materials and cost reduction, while providing best in class power and user experience

  • Working closely with cross functional teams such as Product Management, Hardware, Software, Test and Customer Engineering across global sites and time zones

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.

OR

Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.

OR

PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience in Chipset / system partitioning and definition including PMIC, power grid, PDN, clock grid and interfaces

  • Strong analytical skills and familiarity with top-down engineering design. Able to take high-level product requirements, summarize solution options/KPIs and recommend strategy.

  • Excellent communication skills and relationship skills across functional groups.

  • Proactive, highly motivated and capable of delivering quality work with little direction in a highly dynamic environment. This is a leadership role.

  • Experience in semiconductor process technology, IO pad design, signal integrity, power integrity

  • Experience with state of art in IC, PKG, PCB design practices, options and trade-offs

  • Experience with mobile interfaces and standards

  • Experience with scripts and software programs used for power grid creation and release

  • Experience with Qualcomm ICs

Pay range:

$126,000.00 - $189,000.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
