General Summary

Qualcomm Automotive System Engineering – HW SoC architect is responsible for delivering industry-leading system-on-a-chip (SoC) products for automotive compute applications, used inside high performance, leading edge car infotainment (IVI) systems and autonomous driving systems (ADAS).

We are looking for an experienced SoC Architect to join the team.

You be will be part of SoC Architecture team that defines and delivers high performance SoC solutions to automotive IVI and ADAS markets.

Role responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Develop SoC architecture specifications that meet the product/market requirements.

  • Detail feature and performance requirements of major compute IPs (CPUs, GPUs, AI accelerators, etc.), infrastructure topologies and IPs (Interconnect, IO-MMU, Cache controller, DRAM controller, NVM controllers, etc.), of interface IPs (PCIe, Ethernet, USB, UFS, etc.)

  • Drive feature definitions, publish key performance indicators of the IPs and top-level of the product and engage in Power and Performance analysis towards meeting the targets

  • Engage functional safety, security, design, validation and other teams in the broader product development teams to successfully deliver the product in time with correct characteristics (features, performance, power, area)

  • Engage in problem identification, issue closures and collateral updates.

  • Review any bottom-up design for challenges in functional or performance convergence and drive SoC architecture solution to enable better design convergence.

  • Proactively identify and resolve problems upstream and downstream

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Must have a Bachelors in Computer/Electrical Engineering or related field

  • 10+ years of industry experience. Or a Master’s in the same fields with 7+ years of industry or a PhD in the same fields with 4+ years of industry experience.

  • Good knowledge with several years of experience in SoC design and verification methodologies

  • Multiple domains of the compute or Multimedia SoC architecture:

  • Good knowledge in ARM CPU architectures, in GPU, AI accelerators, and display, video, and audio architectures and processing features,

  • Good knowledge in IP interconnect technology (Network on Chip), bus protocols (ARM AMBA a must), interface protocols (Ethernet, PCIe, UFS, LPDDR), product concepts, and MIPI protocols,

  • Knowledge of the Automotive ecosystem, components and integration of sensors, displays, switch fabric and networks is a plus

  • Knowledge on ISO26262 functional Safety standard will be a plus,

  • Some knowledge in manufacturing processes will be a plus

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Strong leadership skills, self-motivated, persistent, and resilient with the ability to operate in face of ambiguity

  • Comfortable operating in a dynamic environment with rapidly changing priorities and direction

Physical Requirements

• Frequently transports and install equipment up to 5 lbs.

• Performs required tasks at various heights (e.g. standing or sitting).

• Monitors and utilizes computers and test equipment for more than 6 hours a day.

• Continuous communication which includes the comprehension of information with colleagues, customers, and vendors both in person and remotely.

Minimum Qualifications


Bachelors - Computer Science, Bachelors - Electrical Engineering

Work Experiences:

7+ years of Systems engineering or related work experience.

2+ years of experience in one or more system architecture technology areas and products (e.g., Power System, Shared Resource Management, Limits/Thermal Management, Hardware Islands).
