General Summary

The candidate will work in Qualcomm’s automotive systems team. This team works on mapping Snapdragon™ SoCs to digital cockpit and ADAS/AD solutions from leading car OEMs. The daily tasks will involve engaging with engineers from the customers’ product, systems and engineering teams and also with Qualcomm’s Visual Systems team to map the customer multimedia use-cases to Qualcomm Automotive SoCs - including data flow feasibility and achieving KPIs such as performance, visual quality and power in customer use-case scenarios. Work will involve helping customers understand Qualcomm’s Automotive SoC’s capabilities and helping them map their use-cases to the SoC.

An excellent knowledge of Automotive camera ISP (Image Signal Processor) including HW architecture, data flows, ISP visual quality trade-offs, computer vision, human vs. computer vision optimizations, ADAS and IVI use-cases and their typical implementation in SoCs is valuable. The candidate is also expected to have excellent communication skills and the ability to manage technical discussions with customers. Knowledge of ISP algorithms is a plus.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Interact with customers and map customers’ Image processing / video compression / computer vision use-cases to Qualcomm ISP and Auto SoC capabilities. Analyze and provide the appropriate feasibility/bandwidth and visual quality capabilities specific to customer use-case. Be seen by the customer as the Qualcomm subject matter expert in these areas. Build collaborative relationships with engineers and product managers in customers and Tier-1s.

  • Work with sensor and module vendors to understand their capabilities and roadmap and align them with customers’ and Qualcomm roadmaps.

  • Interact with Visual Systems Team in Qualcomm and provide the team with direction on the future evolution of the Automotive image pipeline to align our internal roadmaps with those of the industry and our customers.

  • Work with Product managers to support product-level decision making.

  • Work with automotive performance & power analysis team to support analysis of use-case dataflows, providing guidance on potential system optimizations to improve performance and/or reduce power/thermal footprints

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidate should have a minimum of 8 years of experience in the following areas in the Bachelor’s (Master’s preferred) in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering. The desired skillsets are

  • Experience with and knowledge of Automotive ISP, video engines and computer vision engine architectures and design trade-offs.

  • Excellent knowledge of Automotive (IVI and ADAS) use-cases.

  • Ability to work across diverse teams within Qualcomm and engage with customers

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Candidates with some experience in machine learning would be an advantage.

  • Past experience working with Automotive customers would be a distinct advantage with a strong focus on clear communication & strong inter-personal skills.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently transports between offices, buildings, and campuses up to ½ mile.

• Frequently transports and installs equipment up to 5 lbs.

• Performs required tasks at various heights (e.g., standing or sitting).

• Monitors and utilizes computers and test equipment for more than 6 hours a day.

• Continuous communication which includes the comprehension of information with colleagues, customers, and vendors both in person and remotely.

Bachelors - Computer Science, Bachelors - Engineering, Bachelors - Information Systems

Work Experiences:

8+ years Systems Engineering or related work experience.



Preferred Qualifications


Masters - Computer Science, Masters - Engineering, Masters - Information Systems

Work Experiences:

4+ years experience with Testing Software such as Bugzilla, LoadRunner, etc. ,4+ years experience working in a large matrixed organization. ,4+ years experience with Development Environment Software such as Apache Maven, Ruby, etc. ,4+ years experience with Database Management Software. ,3+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with executive leadership (e.g., Vice President level and above). ,15+ years Systems Engineering or related work experience.
