Job Overview

We are looking for individuals with 5+ years of experience in RF Product Development and Systems/Hardware architecture background to join the Automotive Chipset Project Engineering team.

The individual will work with a team of dedicated experts to develop next generation RF Front end solutions for telematics products for connected vehicle, 5G, C-V2X and DSDA. The position will be in Qualcomms Automotive Systems team in San Diego, and work on developing solutions for next generation advanced telematics and communication hardware in future vehicles.

Key focus will be in executing to roadmap and driving Automotive requirements across modules that include filters, PA and LNAs for multiple band combinations and driving implementation. Will be responsible in all aspects from scoping to Overall project validation needs, PoR development, customer support and internal alignment across the core and execution teams.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

  • 5+ years Systems Engineering or related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of industry experience in the following:

  • Developing RF products from a Product and/or Design development background.

  • Packaging, modules and/or PCB development for RF and/or SoCs in a hardware development environment Hardware Development Environment.

  • Working with product development and marketing teams to capture and rationalize product requirements.

  • Working with RF front end design, Reliability, Quality, Test and Packaging teams to develop and validate features to meet customer product requirements.

  • Addressing electrical, mechanical and thermal challenges associated with module and RF integration.

  • Productization qualification, cost goal setting and driving ramps to meet product cost and quality requirements.

  • Leading diverse teams with a variety of expertise via influence management.

  • Module experience in design, integration in vehicle and specifications around power, thermal, mechanical and electrical constraints and motion control.

  • Understanding of telematics ecosystem, specifications, automotive (AEC-Q) quality and product requirements a plus

  • Knowledge of vehicle networks, communication protocol and diagnostics

  • Familiarity with key performance metrics, specification setting and product implementation.

  • Knowledge of Product and System Level Test and methods to minimize DPPM and provide high quality products.

  • Direct development experience with an Automotive Tier1 or equivalent integrator functions

  • Good understanding of mechanical, thermal and electrical challenges with integration of advanced semiconductors at a system level.

  • Understanding and willingness to learn the Automotive Ecosystem. Will need to work with a variety of suppliers, industry experts and customer facing requirements for future product development. Will need to develop appreciation of Automotive grade reliability, temperature, operating environments and ecosystem.

  • Demonstrated skills in managing complex design projects in partnership with both internal and external groups with clear communications across multiple levels in the organization.

Education Requirements

Preferred: Masters in Materials, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering and/or Communication Systems Engineering
