The Qualcomm GPU Software team is looking for talented software engineers interested in developing software for next generation mobile devices. The GPU Software team is responsible for delivering device drivers and tools for Snapdragon chipsets, providing best in class performance, power, and features. This role will involve working at all layers of the Graphics software stack on Android and/or Windows.

As a GPU Software Engineer, you are responsible for working with a team that is developing & optimizing Adreno GPU drivers for standard APIs such as OpenGL ES, Vulkan, OpenCL, and DirectX. We are also leveraging the power of Qualcomm GPUs for machine learning and image processing. This position requires close collaboration with hardware designers to understand, improve, and document hardware/software interfaces.

As a GPU Software Kernel Engineer, you are responsible for working with a team that is developing & optimizing Adreno GPU drivers for standard APIs such as OpenGL ES, Vulkan, OpenCL, and DirectX. This position requires close collaboration with hardware designers to understand, improve, and document hardware/software interfaces.

Responsibilities will include the design and development of new features, support for new hardware pre/post-silicon development, debugging of issues within software, optimizing software for performance and power, development of unit tests and working with our partners, game developers, and OEMs.

Minimum required skills:

  • Strong C/C++ programming skills

  • Expertise in kernel mode driver development, including driver architecture

  • Strong understanding of operating system concepts, such as virtual memory and scheduling

  • Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills with the ability to work independently

  • Interest in computer graphics

Optional, preferred skills:

  • Device driver development, including GPU or CPU

  • Expertise in the Linux or Android kernel development, including device driver architecture

  • Expertise in Windows KMD driver development, including WDDM architecture

  • Familiarity with Linux/Android Kernel Open Source workflow

  • Programming experience with OpenGL ES/Vulkan/DX11/DX12/OpenCL APIs

  • Experience working with ARM architecture

  • Familiarity with Git or other SCM tools

Minimum educational qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems

Preferred educational qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

Desired Work Experience (Senior Engineer):

  • 5+ years in embedded or kernel software development using C, C++, Python, or Java.

  • 5+ years in a software engineering environment, exposure to software development lifecycle

  • (Preferred) Experience with hardware interfaces and low-level programming

  • (Preferred) Experience with graphics hardware and/or graphics device drivers

  • (Preferred) Basic understanding of the graphics pipeline
