General Summary

Qualcomm is seeking a DevOps engineer to work in the Software Engineering IT team. This position will be part of a Global Engineering IT organization supporting Qualcomm's next generation engineering innovations.

The ideal candidate will have good hands on development operations experience in one or more areas in the Software Build space.

The Primary areas of contribution would be Application Administration and Development of Automation in one of more tools in the Build and Release domains in a highly complex engineering environment.

This position is for a DevOps engineer, who will be working on projects and delivering strategic and operational initiatives under guidance of the Service Owner.

This position will be responsible for:

  • Building and supporting a highly complex Distributed application infrastructure in cloud and on-premises used by Software Engineering organization in the areas of Software Build and Release.

  • Solutioning and architecture for new solutions and improving resilience of the current environment

  • Infrastructure automation using CI/CD principles

  • Integrating various tools in the DevOps toolchain to accelerate Engineering Tool team's velocity while maintaining high standards for quality and consistency.

  • Identify industry best practices and draft standards for design and implementation of automation workflows

  • Contributing to 24x7 Operations

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 3+ years IT-relevant work experience OR 5+ years IT-relevant work experience without a bachelor’s degree.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ experience in managing and supporting Build tools (Jenkins, Electric Commander) or in large scale environment in cloud and/or on-prem

• 3+ Experience designing and supporting solutions in cloud preferably AWS

• 3+ years of Chef Automation/Configuration Management tools experience

• 3+ *NIX skills as an application admin

• 3+ Experience with scripting skills in Ruby/Python/Perl required

• 3+ Experience working as Devops engineer managing critical applications end to end on prem or cloud (solution design, setup, implementation, monitoring, on-going operations)

• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to be effective in a global organization

• Strong understanding of the software build and release process preferably in a wireless or telecom industry

• Strong understanding of End-to-end understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) management and tool chains including build automation, version control, testing, code quality

• Understanding and exposure to Agile process (SCRUM) is a plus

• Strong interpersonal skills are required to work with globally distributed teams

• Exceptional ability to drive tasks and deliver on time is a must to be successful in this role
