The Cambridge QTI engineering team is continuing to expand in the Voice & Music and IoT Sectors. We offer a full end-to-end service for leading-edge Low-Power Mixed-Signal SOCs from feasibility study through Systems Architecture, Digital and Analogue design, Verification, Validation, Implementation, Layout, Embedded Software design and ATE Test, Production and Characterisation. Minimum Qualifications:
• Required: Bachelor or Master degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or closely related field
• 6+ months of experience of digital design, verification, synthesis or related work experience

About the role:
The Cambridge Chip Implementation team is looking for a physical implementation engineer to help design and develop Qualcomm's pioneering range of IoT and Voice and Music products. This is a great opportunity to start your career where your work will result in products you can see and purchase.
With over 10 billion devices shipped, the Cambridge team have a strong track record in creating market-leading products which bring new audio and power advantages to our customers. Working in Cambridge, the team have the opportunity to work alongside colleagues in the software, packaging, analogue design and silicon verification teams. This creates a unique environment where you can learn how each team interacts to create the final product.
Working closely with others, the successful candidate will learn the ASIC physical design flow and gain experience of deep sub-micron technologies (e.g. FinFet) and low power design. As part of the Chip Implementation team, this role gives great opportunity to work on a wide range of different technical areas: from synthesis and constraint generation to placement, routing, timing analysis, formal verification and physical layout checks.
Responsibilities
Create block or chip level floorplans which integrate analogue and digital blocks
Run placement, clock tree synthesis, routing flows
Run signoff tools to check timing, power and area goals are met
Participate in design reviews
Identify areas for flow and process improvements.
Support the creation of ECO scripts to incorporate late design changes or timing fixes.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
Great attention to detail and strong communication skills
Experience of digital or analogue layout
Experience of RTL design (e.g. verilog or VHDL) or static timing analysis
Previous exposure to commercial EDA tools (e.g. Design Compiler, Innovus, Primetime)
Hands-on experience developing timing constraints or CPF/UPF power constraints
Knowledge of physical design, static timing or transistor level layout
Proficient in scripting languages like Perl, Python, TCL or GNU Make
