Job Overview

The RD Lab Team design and test complex PCBs for internal customers, primarily for new silicon

evaluation. From Bluetooth to Audio and IOE, our boards are key for the successful evaluation of new

exciting silicon projects. We support internal teams for silicon Characterisation, Validation, Radio

Optimisation and Software development.

The role of Technician will require you to test, rework and fault find development boards to support new

exciting silicon projects. Our boards are both BT (2.4GHz) and Audio focused and experience with

these technologies is preferred.

This role will also require you to be involved with our in house High Temperature Operating Life Test

(HTOL) facility, performing loading, unloading of devices to a schedule as well as testing of parts on the

ATE system.

Fully training on these systems will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

Testing and debug of all engineering boards developed by the R&D Lab Group. Including manual

and ATE testing where appropriate

Testing, debug and programming of HTOL (High Temperature Operating Life) boards

Testing, debug and programming of HAST (Highly Accelerated Stress Test) boards

Assist with the loading and unloading of Qualcomm silicon in and out of the in-house HTOL system

Providing lab services support to internal customers e.g. the Radio Integration Group and Test

Development when required. Including use of chip rework machine

Maintenance and ordering Lab stocks of components and sundries including ordering of appropriate

storage facilities

Maintenance of tested lab board stocks in association with the Board Manufacturing Group in

particular lab stocks of DV Design verification boards

Responsible for liaising with Quality Engineer for Equipment Calibration events for HTOL lab.

Responsible for ensuring Health and Safety practices are followed in the lab environment including

review and maintenance of COSHH certificates for lab sundries and general lab cleanliness

Liaison with BMG group test department to handover test solutions on mature projects

Minimum Qualifications

Technical Skills:

  • Conversant with test equipment Spectrum Analyser; DMM;

  • Proven experience of debugging hardware preferably within the semiconductor industry.

  • Excellent soldering skills in particular reflow of BGA & CSPs down to 0.4mm pitch and
