Job Overview

We are looking to add a Senior Audio Engineer to our team, which is focussed on the domain of Hearables. This domain requires addressing a plurality of specialised subject matters and combines audio with sensors in a constrained platform in terms of computation, power, and physical dimensions. The candidate will need to have significant experience in acoustic measurements and will be responsible for overseeing the construction of an acoustic anechoic chamber.

The person who fills this position will have an excellent understanding of audio, acoustics, and state-of-the-art techniques in common Hearables algorithms (e.g. active noise cancellation, echo cancellation, beamforming), combined with strong experience in software development. The candidate should have a proven record of innovations through patents and/or academic contributions, should be capable of working with multiple teams on diverse disciplines.

The candidate should be self-motivated, independent and capable of operating across a range of technical areas.

Key responsibilities:

Oversee the development of an acoustic anechoic chamber.

Specify and conduct experiments leading to validation of speculative systems proposals, including data collection and analysis.

Contribute effectively in the key areas of audio and acoustics.

Implement prototype systems on Qualcomm platforms.

Document experiments and perform root-cause analysis.

Collaborate with others to drive system improvements and generate Intellectual Properties.

Collaborate in formulation of both hardware and software towards specification of an overall system solution, ready for Proof-Of-Concept, demonstration, and hand-over to the engineering group for product.

Maintain an understanding of the technical landscape and guide the team in this respect.

Write prototype code and supporting tests for deployment on chip platforms.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

Experience with one or more audio measurement systems (e.g. Audio Precision, Soundcheck, ACQUA).

Experience with performing audio experiments in an acoustic anechoic chamber.

Solid experience working on embedded systems.

Strong interest in Audio Algorithms

Excellent understanding of Digital Signal Processing, especially with regards to audio.

Experienced in C and strong competency in Python.

Excellent communication skills (documentations and presentations)

Teamwork oriented. Good interpersonal skills with strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in specifying, organising, and maintaining audio labs and anechoic chambers.

Up-to-date knowledge of MEMS microphones, and generally small form factor transducers.

Experience in acoustic design of headphones and/or earbuds.

Experience in development of audio systems.

Proven record in innovation and patent generations.

Experience of system level design and issues.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
