Qualcomm is looking for talented and motivated Patent Attorneys to apply their technical, analytical, communication, and legal skills working in a team environment with the goal of strategically evaluating and enhancing Qualcomms portfolio of high quality, high value patents. The candidate will be required to understand the technology, business plans, product roadmaps, and domestic and international patent laws, particularly China patent law, and to work in a cooperative atmosphere to achieve this goal.

The candidate will be required to work closely with internal partners and/or business units as well as external contact and customers to understand how Qualcomm intellectual property benefits Qualcomm and its customers, and to support technical and legal engagement regarding Qualcomms intellectual property portfolio. The candidate should have an understanding of the technology being supported, evaluating patents for enforceability and applicability both nationally and internationally, working with business units to develop strategic patent portfolio roadmaps, working with inhouse patent prosecution attorneys as well as with US and international counsel to ensure high quality prosecution of patents, and developing patent portfolio reports and presentations for internal review as well for external engagements. The candidate will be involved in and provide legal advice on patent validity proceedings and patent infringement analysis and device testing.

The candidate may be required to provide legal advice to the Qualcomm Standards group and any Qualcomm employees participating as members in organizations such as Standards Development Organizations and related SIGs, Forums, and industry associations. The position will involve advising on issues related to new and existing membership agreements, as well as drafting and reviewing various guidelines and related compliance documents associated with such organizations. The position will also involve policy advocacy at IP working groups meetings and calls of some of the organizations.

Minimum Qualifications

3+ years experience in prosecuting China and international patent applications or related patent litigation experience are required. This position requires that the individual be admitted to practice law in China.

Preferred Qualifications

The candidate should be outgoing and motivated, demonstrate initiative, and possess technical, legal, and interpersonal skills with the desire to work in a team environment. Law firm experience is required.

Experience with China patent law enforcement is desirable.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor's, Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering

Required: Juris Doctor or similar Law Degree
