Job Overview

Qualcomm is seeking a talented and motivated patent attorney to apply their legal, technical, and communication skills with engineers, business units and legal colleagues to develop the highest quality, high-value patents throughout the world. The candidate will be required to understand the technology, business plans, product roadmaps, industry practice, domestic and international patent laws, and work in a cooperative atmosphere to achieve this goal. The role includes developing a team of technically skilled individuals to draft priority patent applications and draft responses to patent office communications. Specific responsibilities include patent application drafting for EP or US priority filing, drafting responses to US office actions, EP communications, interviewing examiners, and based on their knowledge of US and EP practice, providing substantive feedback to the team of technically skilled individuals on their work product.

Minimum Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's, Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering, fluent in written and spoken English.

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years experience in preparing and prosecuting local and international patent applications are required. The candidate must be registered to practice before the EPO or USPTO. The candidate should be outgoing and motivated, demonstrate initiative, and possess technical, legal, and interpersonal skills with the desire to work in a team environment. Engineering and US or EP law firm experience is required. Patent litigation or patent assertion experience is desirable. A broad set of technical expertise in areas such as wireless communications and various associated non-connectivity technologies is desirable.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering, fluent in written and spoken English.
